IBM hardware · Hyperconverged infrastructure
Two servers can fail with no data lost.* Your price in one business day.
For the teams who run OpenShift, virtual machines and AI side by side: IBM Fusion HCI, sized to your workloads by our engineering team and priced before you commit.

Your next platform can arrive as one rack.
- It arrives as one rack of servers, switches and software, integrated by IBM.
- It runs virtual machines, containers and AI on Red Hat OpenShift.
- It updates firmware without downtime, one redundant part at a time.
The infrastructure you run today may be serving you well. This is what Fusion HCI adds.
We size it with you. You see your price first, within one business day.
One system, rack to dashboard.
IBM pre-selects the servers, switches and rack, and pre-configures the system on day one. One dashboard shows CPU, memory, storage and network use across the OpenShift cluster.
Call Home, and updates without downtime.
IBM’s Call Home service reports hardware failures to support teams automatically. Redundant parts let each component update and restart while the system keeps running.
Data where it already lives.
Applications reach S3 object storage, NFS shares and IBM Storage Scale volumes as if they were local, without copying the data first.

Three of IBM’s own figures.
Two servers can fail with no data lost.*
IBM states it for any two storage and compute servers, with the storage cluster’s Data Foundation three-way copy.
Up to 405 TB usable in one system.*
IBM’s figure for 16 storage and compute servers with ten 7.68 TB drives each.
Up to 90X faster remote S3 queries.**
IBM’s figure for Fusion HCI’s local caching with IBM watsonx.data.
* IBM’s Fusion HCI data sheet (October 2025): the storage cluster uses Data Foundation three-way copy; with it, the failure of any two storage and compute servers loses no data. Usable capacity is IBM’s approximate figure, rounded down to the nearest TB, for 16 storage and compute servers with ten 7.68 TB drives each. ** IBM’s Fusion page, against not using IBM Fusion System caching with watsonx.data; the data sheet cites IBM’s Redbook “Accelerating IBM watsonx.data with IBM Fusion HCI” (March 2024).

Start at three servers. Grow to 16.
The base system is one 42U rack: three 1U storage and compute servers, a service node, two 200GbE top-of-rack switches and two management switches. Add storage and compute servers up to 16, each one adding capacity to the storage cluster, and GPU servers in redundant pairs for AI.

What you get.
If you run infrastructure.
You get one rack in place of separate servers, storage and switches, with redundant parts throughout, so firmware updates need no downtime. Our engineering team sizes it to your workloads and stays with you through cutover.
If you run the OpenShift platform.
You get OpenShift pre-configured on day one, one dashboard for the hardware and the cluster, and virtual machines and containers on the same platform. Our engineering team stays with you through setup and support.
If you lead data and AI.
You get GPU servers in redundant pairs beside the storage, and remote S3 queries up to 90X faster with Fusion HCI’s local caching and watsonx.data, in IBM’s figure.** We size the GPU servers with you.
If you are the CIO.
You get one IBM system for virtual machines, containers and AI, that grows a server at a time, and the number before you commit. Pay only for what you need. See your price first, within one business day.
You have real choices. Here is each one, plainly.
Keep the infrastructure you have.
Nothing to buy. Nothing to move. What Fusion HCI adds will still be here when you are ready.
Buy from IBM itself.
IBM sells directly to fewer than about 100 companies and organizations in the United States. Everyone else buys through an IBM Business Partner. So the real choice is which partner.
Buy through another IBM Business Partner.
Same IBM system. Same IBM programs. Ask three things: who sizes the rack, how soon you see the price, and who is with you at cutover.
Choose a different hyperconverged platform.
Right when your team already runs it everywhere. Compare three things: how many server failures the storage survives with no data lost, firmware updates without downtime, and VMs and containers on one platform.
Build it yourself, or run it in the cloud.
Right when your team already designs and supports its own OpenShift hardware, or when your workloads live in one cloud. Fusion HCI arrives with the servers, switches and rack chosen by IBM.
Buy it through us.
You get the same IBM system. And you get our engineering team: we size it with you, show you your price first, and stay with you through cutover.
IBM builds the system. We size it with you.
You see your price first.
Tell us what you’re after. One business day later you have a price, sized to fit, with nothing in it you don’t need.
Our engineering team owns it.
The engineers who size it set it up and stay through support. IBM Business Partner since 2008, 29 of 29 IBM proficiencies, one team the whole way.

We would rather tell you now. Fusion HCI is not the fit if you do not run Red Hat OpenShift and have no plan to, if everything you run already lives in a public cloud and will stay there, or if what you need is storage alone. For that last one, ask us about FlashSystem.
